The black protective cover is made of Oxford fabric with a waterproof PU coating. It protects the hob from rain, dust, and external debris. Although waterproof, it is not resistant to prolonged moisture. It is therefore recommended to maintain a thin layer of grease on the hob to prevent corrosion.
