The shavings should be submerged in water before use to produce maximum smoke. For gas grill : Before using the wood chips, they must be soaked for min. 15 minutes in water, juice, wiskey, beer, wine and others. Allow to drip dry for a few minute, then add to smoking drawer/foil pouch.
